MARY ELLEN SCHERL was born in Miami Beach, Florida, received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and until recently, lived and worked in New York and New Jersey. Mary Ellen is now a resident of South Florida.
After a 17-year career as an art director at two premier advertising agencies, Leo Burnett in Chicago and Young & Rubicam in New York, Ms. Scherl pursued her inborn passion for painting, sculpting and photography. She exhibits widely in the US and abroad, in museums and private collections. Ms. Scherl gained national recognition for creating “Mamorial”, a non-profit breast cancer initiative that offers healing and awareness through art. “Mamorial” was exhibited in Miami during Art Basel. Ms. Scherl frequently lectures on her art. She has been reviewed in the NYTimes, and featured on NBC Nightly News. She served as President of the Sculptors Guild in New York, and as a member of the Board of the International Sculpture Center and the Bakehouse Art Complex.
